Approximately 76% of participants said they noticed cannabis/marijuana smoke at the location they were surveyed or in their community (Figure 1), ranging from 70% at schools to 83% in their community (Figure 2).

Figure 3 shows the percentage of participants who noticed cannabis/marijuana smoke by the survey location zip code. For outreach locations, the participants’ residence zip code is used.
How often do you notice cannabis/marijuana smoke?
Participants noticed cannabis/marijuana smoke “frequently” in apartments (47%), parks (46%), and other public locations (45%), such as libraries, bus stops, and community centers.
Figure 5 shows the average frequency that participants notice cannabis/marijuana smoke at survey location zip codes. For outreach locations, participants’ residence zip code is used. Responses ranging from “rarely” to “all the time” are assigned numeric values (i.e., 1-5) and averaged for each zip code. A higher average frequency means that participants notice cannabis/marijuana smoke closer to “all the time.” A lower average frequency means that participants notice cannabis/marijuana smoke closer to “rarely.”
