In fiscal year 2024-2025 (FY2425), there were 35,789 clients that accounted for 60,797 admissions to publicly funded substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs for alcohol or other drug addiction in Los Angeles County (LAC). Since FY2021, the number of clients has been increasing slightly, while the total number of admissions increased rapidly through FY2425 (Figure 1).
From FY1516-FY2425, the number of admissions increased with age, peaking at age 26-34 (31%), then decreased with age (Figure 2). The proportion of all admissions among clients aged 26-34 increased steadily from 25% in FY1516 to 32% in FY2425. From FY1718 to FY2425, the proportion among clients aged 35-44 increased from 21% to 30% (Figure 3).
From FY1516 to FY2425, males accounted for nearly two-thirds (63%) of publicly funded SUD treatment admissions (Figures 4-5).
From FY1516-FY2425, Hispanic/Latino clients accounted for over half (52%) of all publicly funded SUD treatment admissions in LAC, while White accounted for nearly one-third (30%), and Blacks accounted for 14% (Figure 6).
Hispanic/Latino clients consistently accounted for the largest proportion of all SUD treatment admissions, which also increased from 48% in FY1718 with 22,188 admissions to 57% in FY2425 with 34,424 admissions. The proportion of all SUD treatment admissions among White decreased from 34% in FY1718 to 25% in FY2425 (Figure 7).
In FY2425, SPA 2 (San Fernando, 21%) accounted for the largest proportion of all publicly funded SUD treatment admissions in LAC, followed by SPA 3 (San Gabriel, 16%), SPA 8 (South Bay/Harbor, 14%), SPA 6 (South, 14%), SPA 4 (Metro, 13%), SPA 7 (East, 11%), SPA 1 (Antelope Valley, 8%), and SPA 5 (West, 3%).
SPA 1 and SPA 6 have been on increasing trends since FY1718, while SPA 3 and SPA 7 have been on decreasing trends since FY1920 (Figure 8).

In FY2425, SD 2 accounted for the largest proportion (22%) of all publicly funded SUD treatment admissions in LAC, closely followed by SD 5 (21%) and SD 1 (21%), SD 4 (19%), and SD 3 (16%) (Figure 9).
SD 2 has been on an increasing trend since FY1718.
In SD 4, SUD treatment admissions jumped in FY2122 and has maintained those levels.
SD 5 had consistent declines over the past 3 years.
